Our Focus
Our focus is designing and providing support services to meet the situation-specific needs of individuals and organisations. In the process, we seek to create lasting relationships built on trust, integrity and quality of service.

Our Therapeutic Approach
Our psychologists utilise both Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) as their main framework for treatment. In contrast to some traditional models of psychotherapy, both these models are recognised as active approaches rather than purely reflective. They drive change as well as promote insight and understanding of why a problem occurs. One of the assumptions of both these models is the view that people are often constrained by their own narrow, pessimistic perceptions of their lives and problem solving capabilities. This may result in ineffective, repetitive behaviour that ultimately leaves people feeling stuck and unsure about the issues that confront them.

CBT and SFBT are practical models of therapy that place emphasis on respect for a person’s competence, strengths and resources. They de-emphasise a person’s history and focuses more on the present where problems are often maintained, not in the past that may have “caused” them. Ultimately, the main focus is the construction of a solution. Solution Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy maintain that if both client and therapist can reorient themselves in the direction of the client’s strengths, clarify goals and strategies to achieve them, then therapy can be brief.

The Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy models are suited to a wide range of presenting problems. Their brief therapy framework enables individuals to work towards solutions by focusing on their strengths and building necessary skills that can be used to resolve current problems and others that may arise in the future. We also utilise alternative therapeutic approaches when appropriate.
